I had a fabulous breakfast today. I spent it with a room full of other business people, discussing Time Management. Actually, I presented a short workshop called Effective Time Management – from Chaos to Order in 5 Easy Steps. I must thank the attendees for their enthusiastic contribution. It adds value and energy to the discussion, and everyone benefits from lively participation. I know there will now be 15 more people thinking differently about how they spend their time.
Thanks for Lively Breakfast

This post referred someone to my blog, so I thought I’d come and take a look-see.
Time management isn’t an easy problem to solve, universally, because many people have personality types that are antithetical to the most common and effective solutions. You can show them the easy way, and although they may try to adopt it, it requires a lot of low-level re-wiring in the brain.
Have you found any particular tools that are useful for classic disorganized thinkers? Something that takes the problem of time management and facilitates them being *better* at using their time, instead of trying to get them to change their baseline cognitive processes?
Thanks for stopping by to visit.
I have found that helping clients identify their motivation for using time wisely helps a great deal. Once a person really wants to improve time management skills, they are half way to achieving that goal.
Next comes the small changes at a practical level. It’s the little things that can sometimes make a big difference.
Developing greater self-awareness goes a long way to making better use of time (or space or resources or anything really).
As One of those 15 people I came away very motivated to review how I manage my time and do some planning.
Thanks heaps!
The Five Steps were kind of obvious but obvious doesn’t mean that we actually do them without a bit of prompting and motivation.
Thanks for the feedback Chris. It’s not rocket science but it does help to take a fresh view now and then.
