NRL player, Billy Slater, is pretty sure that his Melbourne Storm teammates would call him organised. But it was not always so. Growing up, there was a time when he wasn’t organised, but he has now embraced a more structured lifestyle.
He says that being organised is part of having a good game day preparation. “I feel if I’m not organised, especially on the day of the game, I feel rushed and underprepared. It can take focus away from what is important and the job at hand.”
I asked him about all demands on his time and how did he manage it all. His secret? Billy said, “I have a team around me that help with my diary but I’m across everything. At the end of the day it’s up to me to know what I have on and also allow enough down/family time.”
He does take lots of notes and keeps a close eye on his calendar.
His career advice for any young players… “Firstly you need to be prepared to work extremely hard. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.”
That’s so true, Billy. Thanks for taking the time to share the secrets to your success.
