I invited Marion Ivermee-Villarosa from A Place of Calm to answer my interview questions, and she graciously accepted. Marion is a graduate of the Hoarding Home Solutions for Independent Service Providers online training and her team cover a big area – Geelong and surrounding suburbs, The Bellarine and Surf Coast, Werribee, Melton, Bacchus Marsh, Ballarat, Colac, and Melbourne metropolitan suburbs.
Tell me Marion, who do you work with?
Our clients are predominantly those with complex needs that come through NDIS, Aged Care and other community agencies.
Who is your ideal client?
Those with complex needs including hoarding tendencies.
What drew you to the organising industry?
I was drawn to the organising industry because I felt I had natural ability to keeping life organised and I wanted to help people. I started my business around May 2015.
What was a pivotal moment for you starting out as an organiser?
My first client had depression and anxiety, I wasn’t even aware of what that meant or looked like for some people when it came to their home environment. I know now!
To what do you attribute your success as an organiser?
I never initially made it about the dollars. It was about building our reputation in a professional way. As I grew and became more confident, I understood my worth, followed my intuition and expanded my team and services.
What would you say to someone just starting out as an organiser?
Know your WHY? Trust yourself and do what works for you.
What is one habit that helps your life run smoothly?
Staying on track with our business systems. If I stray, I am in trouble!!
Is there anything else you think people should know?
Follow your dreams and don’t be afraid to take a leap of faith if the opportunity presents itself. Your branding is you, not just your business name.
Great advice there, Marion. Thanks for sharing!
