Hats and horses and high heels and hors d’oeuvres. It’s all about the Melbourne Cup in Melbourne (and I’m not even there). But I’m grateful for the Melbourne Cup, the holiday it provides and all the pomp and ceremony. I don’t care about horse racing or fashion, but I do enjoy a celebration. And there’s another reason I’m grateful for the Melbourne Cup and the Spring Racing Carnival. It’s an employer of people – the milliners, the spray-tanners, the hairdressers, the drink servers and the taxi drivers. It brings people together in backyards across Melbourne, and even up in Far North Queensland where I am now.
Here I am in my hat 🙂
