This weekend is the perfect time to help children make room for all the goodies they’ll receive at Christmas. Get them involved with their decision-making, guide them to make considered choices. You may be surprised by just what those decisions are. But value the process. Children will learn about self-awareness (by evaluating their needs and wants), philosophy (thinking from different perspectives), maths (spatial considerations), money (“wow, those skates cost a lot and I never used them”), sustainability (what’s an earth-friendly way to dispose of this?) and if they are encouraged to donate items in good condition, they’ll learn to think of others.
