Together with Chris Owen and Janet Powell, I owe a very big thank you to the many people who helped make the Phoenix Lunch such a success.

On making the decision to run a fundraising and networking lunch for women in business, to raise money for the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal, we had no idea just how much support we’d receive from so many wonderful people.  The fact we were able to host the function within one week is testament to everyone’s willingness and commitment to attend, offer prizes and help in many other ways.

It was clear from the “buzz” in the room, those who attended had a great time catching up with colleagues and friends, discussing business, meeting new contacts and pondering on which silent auction items to bid for. Many also made donations from their businesses for the prize-pool.

Of course we were very aware of the reason for holding this lunch – the awful bushfire tragedy and the desire to do something to help the thousands of people directly affected. So we’re very grateful to my husband, Greg Esnouf, CFA Deputy Chief Officer, for taking time on a precious day off work, to speak to us about his personal experience of the fires.  It’s not often I get to kiss the guest speaker.

We thank Brenda Thomson for leading the networking on the day and giving us some great tips (and reminders) on effective networking.  Our MC, Chris Keogh, did a great job of keeping the activities flowing while entertaining us with her refreshing sense of humour.  For the use of the White Spaces Management and Marketing Services banking and credit card facility, we have Roger Powell to thank.  The Box Hill Golf Club made a wonderful venue, with delicious food, attentive service and a lovely view.

We are very pleased to announce that through the combined efforts of all involved, we raised $4327 for the Red Cross!
