That title’s an abbreviation for the Creating Order 2009 Declutter Challenge! We are one month down and the count is now…
114: a universal remote control that wasn’t – out it goes
115: a pair of children’s swimming goggles left behind last summer. No-one claimed it. Now it’s headed for charity.
116 & 117: 2 duvets. A review showed them beyond usefulness, with no stuffing in one and the other full of holes. They’ve done good service and I found one waiting in the wings. The other will get replaced closer to winter. I’m on the lookout for sales.
118-121: 4 outdoor folding director chairs which have completely perished. In the words of my brother-in-law, “How good is your public liability insurance?” Lucky we have a hard rubbish collection coming soon.
That collection will be a good time for me to catch up to my target, as currently I’ve fallen behind. Do not despair. I am confident of regaining the upper hand.
And here’s some sad news, with the extreme heat here in Melbourne, along with power outages, my daughter, her fiance and cat had to escape their home and find refuge with us. That’s not the sad bit. But having to throw out a fridge and freezer full of food because it spoiled after 3 days of intermittent power is very sad. We so often take a roof over our heads, power coming down the line and food in the fridge for granted. Today I’m grateful for what I have. It’s even sadder for those poor families who’ve lost their homes in the ongoing bushfires.
I spent last week in hospital so when I got home yesterday I was very excited to get an e-mail from Angela telling me that I had won a prize for my decluttering efforts. It also reinforced my determination to keep up the momentum. Today I reached the magic number of 500 items!!! I have added incentive now…to unclutter all floor areas before I have my hip replacement in a few weeks. I don’t want to be tripping over things during my rehab. I’m so looking forward to my new book, and I’ll have plenty of time to read it.
Thanks again Angela for your encouragement.
You deserve your prize, Pam. You’ve bravely achieved a lot in a short time and worked through adversity.
