In The Success Principles by Jack Canfield and Janet Switzer, there’s a chapter called Acknowledge Your Positive Past. One of the suggestions in that chapter has nurtured my gratitude project and my clients have benefitted as well, since I shared this simple technique with them. It is simply to remember your wins throughout life as a whole. I can recommend the book if you want detail on how it works, but in general, it’s about looking back over your lifetime and acknowledging wins. Those wins could be as simple as
- Learning to walk
- Staring down the bully in grade 5
- Scoring that home run
- Saving enough money to travel to Europe
- Speaking in front of a large group for the first time
I’m grateful for these successes. What are your wins in life? Remembering those wins when times get tough can be really affirming.
Please share your gratitude, here on the blog, on the Facebook page, with your friends and family, or privately in your own gratitude journal. What are you grateful for?
